A Time-Turner is a special timepiece, which resembles an hourglass on a necklace, used for time travel. The volatility of these objects is well known, resulting in the Ministry of Magic encasing Hour-Reversal Charms in the time turners they created, for added stability. The number of times one turns the hourglass corresponds to the number of hours one travels back in time. However, they can only stay in the past for five hours at a time, without the possibility of serious harm to the traveller or to time itself.

Size: The necklace is on a gold-plated snake chain which is 45.72 cm (18 inches) in length. The sterling silver gold-plated charm is adorned with crystals, measures approximately 2 x 2 cm (0.79x 0.79 inches), and comes in an official Harry Potter™ branded gift box.
